Reported alligator pictured swimming in New Braunfels rivers was a ‘remote control,’ police say

New Braunfels police said they started investigating after seeing social media posts claiming to show an alligator swimming through the Comal and Guadalupe rivers.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — New Braunfels police began investigating after receiving recent social media posts claiming to show an alligator swimming through the Comal and Guadalupe rivers.

After some investigating, the New Braunfels Police Department said these gator photos are indeed a hoax.

NBPD said the alligator pictured in the social media posts was actually a remote-controlled alligator head.

The department said although this was an "unintentional hoax," they hope the conclusion of the investigation "eases any fears."
