BENTONVILLE (KFSM) — Walmart has made another round of layoffs.
According to Bao Nguyen with Walmart Media Relations, the positions that had been filled were eliminated on Thursday (Feb. 25).
Nguyen stated, “Today’s action is part of a routine process where we evaluate the positions skills and experience we need in our technology organization. It’s something we’ve done before and will continue to do, just like any technology business.”
While Walmart is not releasing a specific number of layoffs, Nguyen said these actions typically involve 1-3 percent of the technology organization (the information systems division of Walmart Technology).
Walmart released the following statement:
“We don’t take any decision involving our people lightly. We routinely evaluate the positions, skills and experience we need like any technology business. This includes eliminating some positions while recruiting and hiring new ones.”
Walmart announced in October that it would lay off 450 higher-level employees as it restructures its Home Office.
