FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — The University of Arkansas System trustees have given final approval of a multimillion dollar upgrade to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The $120 million bond issue passed the full board Thursday (Sept. 8) morning, with two trustees voting against: David Pryor of Little Rock and Cliff Gibson of Monticello.

The project is expected to total $160 million and will enclose the north end zone of the stadium. The expansion is expected to add around 4, 800 seats, which would bring the stadium’s capacity to near 77,000.

The Broyles Athletic Center will have to be rebuilt as part of the renovation. The athletic center is located at the north end of the stadium and many athletic department officials have offices in the building.

The renovation is expected to be complete before the 2018 football season.
