SPRINGDALE (KFSM) — On Wednesday (April 13) Tyson Foods officials proposed bringing a new $136 million processing facility to Northwest Arkansas, which would create an additional 85 jobs.
The proposed facility would be built across the street from their current poultry plant in Green Forest, according to a press release. The new building would be more than 200,000 square feet and could be completed by late 2017. A corridor would connect the two plants.
Whether the proposal comes to fruition depends largely on if the Carroll County Quorum Court approves certain tax abatements, as well as the company getting sales and use tax credits from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, the release states.
The new facility would expand Tyson’s production and transportation capabilities in Green Forest. The current plant produces several partially-cooked chicken products for customers and the food industry.
Building the new plant would not increase the demand for chickens raised in Carroll County.
