FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A new trial date has been set for a Springdale woman accused of shooting her husband in the face last year, officials said.

Robin Phillips’ trial had been scheduled to begin Nov. 18 but was rescheduled to start in the spring because the results of her mental evaluation are not in, according to officials.

Phillips shot her husband, James, in the face with a semi-automatic pistol following an argument on Nov. 29, 2013, according to the Springdale Police Department. She then cut her own neck with a knife, police said.

Both were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries and later released, police said.

Phillips pleaded not guilty in January to a charge of first-degree domestic battery, records show.

Earlier this year, Phillips submitted court paperwork saying she planned on using a mental defect as a defense in the case, records show.
