(KFSM) – Sony cancelled the Christmas release of their movie “The Interview,” which has caused the company quite a lot of buzz, even getting Sony hacked, according to a news release.
“In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film “The Interview,” we have decided not to move forward with the planned Dec. 25 theatrical release,” Sony said in a statement.
“We respect and understand our partners’ decision and, of course, completely share their paramount interest in the safety of employees and theater-goers,” Sony continued.
Sony Pictures was hacked not long ago and had a large amount of data stolen, including personnel records and multiple unreleased movies, the release states.
The decision to cancel the Christmas release followed many movie theaters choosing to not put the film out on Christmas.
