FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A 1,000-foot-long slip-and-slide is coming to Fayetteville, officials say.
Slide the City describes itself as a slip-and-slide water party that travels around the country setting up the three-football-field long slide down main streets from Memphis to Omaha to Kansas City.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 30, according to the organization’s website.
Slide the City applied for a permit with the city of Fayetteville in February, but the permit was denied because the city doesn’t allow shutting down streets for for-profit organizations.
Slide the City asked Fayetteville officials for a second chance in April after teaming up with local non-profit Soldier On Service Dogs. According to President Angie Pratt, there will be 7,500 tickets sold for the event and in order for the non-profit to get credit for a ticket sales, participants must pre-order their tickets using the code “dogs.” She said the code will also get participants a 10% discount.
That second chance was granted on Thursday (May 7) evening, officials say.
