SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) – The Siloam Springs Police Department arrested a man on suspicion of military desertion and domestic battery, according to an arrest report.

Rhandall S. Lavasseur, 26, of Fort Bragg, N.C. was booked into the Benton County Detention Center on Feb. 20 at 6:45 p.m., according to jail records. Those same records also state he faces charges of military desertion, second-degree false imprisonment and third-degree domestic battery.

On Friday (Feb. 20) at 2:39 p.m., police spoke with a woman who accused Lavasseur of hitting her, the report states. She told police Lavasseur, her boyfriend, had asked her for money, and she refused to give it to him (she had been saving for the two of them to get their own apartment), the report states.

According to the report, police noticed red marks between her eyes and on her left cheek. Her lower lip also appeared to be swollen.

The victim told police that they started to fight over the money, and she ran into a bathroom, according to the report. Police said Lavasseur followed the victim and hit her more, refusing to let her leave. He also pushed her into the bathtub, the report states.

Eventually, he left in her car and drove away, police said.

The victim got a ride to the Siloam Springs Police Department, and Lavasseur was later taken into custody, according to the report. Police said that after Lavasseur’s arrest, they learned he had a warrant for military desertion from the U.S. Army Deserter Information Point.

Lavasseur’s court date has been scheduled for March 10, according to jail records.
