During his visit on Friday (April 15), U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. praised the state, and Springdale in particular, for being leaders in computer science education.
King said Springdale is a leader because several of their teachers have computer science training, which they pass along to their students.
"What I was inspired by today is the energy and passion that students bring to the things that they're learning," said King. "As I talk with the students who are learning computer science, I was struck by how strong their relationships are with their teachers."
With their computer science training, Springdale students have internship opportunities at J.B. Hunt, Walmart and Tyson.
