Razorbacks Explode in Series Finale

OXFORD, Miss. — The Arkansas Razorbacks used a season-high 18 hits to score 11 runs and knock off no. 22 Ole Miss, 11-3, Sunday afternoon in Oxford, Miss.

Arkansas got started early. Jacob Mahan got things moving with a one out single, then scored on a double by Dominic Ficociello. Two batters later, Sam Bates singled to right to score Ficociello, then scored himself on a double by Derrick Bleeker. Bo Bigham then drove in Bleeker with a single to center to give the Razorbacks a 4-0 lead before Ole Miss even came to bat.

After Hog starter DJ Baxendale tossed a scoreless first, Arkansas added on in the second. Jacob Morris led off with a triple, then scored on a single by Jake Wise. Later, with two on, Ficociello doubled again to score Wise and Mahan and run the score to 7-0.

After Ole Miss got on the board in the third, Arkansas got the run back in the fourth, when Ficociello drove in his fourth run of the game with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Tim Carver.

The Razorbacks weren’t done scoring.

In the top of the sixth, Jacob Mahan grounded out to second with Wise on third, stretching the lead to 9-1. Then, in the seventh, back-to-back singles by Bleeker and Bigham put two on, then singles by Wise and Carver plated both of them.

Cade Lynch (2-1) got the win for Arkansas for three innings of one-run relief. Baxendale lasted 3.2 innings, scattering six hits and giving up one run while striking out four.

Ficociello was 3-for-4 with four driven in. Carver, Mahan, Bleeker, Bigham and Wise all added multiple hits for the Razorbacks.

Arkansas improves to 28-12 overall, 9-9 in Southeastern Conference play. They return home Tuesday when they host Oral Roberts. First pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
