FORT SMITH (KFSM)-- A popular restaurant and concert venue in the River Valley is taking on a new name.

What was once known as Neumeier’s Rib Room will now be called the Sound Room.

“It will be a non-smoking venue,” new owner, Pam Kelly, said. “We're going to be offering a full menu, and we will be hopefully open seven days a week.”

Kelly said a lot of changes are coming to the restaurant including a roof.

“We are enclosing it, which will help with the elements, and then we're going to try to have some more popular entertainers coming in once every four to six weeks,” Kelly said.

The venue is opening for the first time on Wednesday (April 27) for the Steel Horse Rally, but you won't hear people calling it the sound room just yet.

“We're actually going under the name the Steel Horse Saloon,” Kelly said. “That's just to recognize a downtown event that everyone's looking forward to.”

Kelly said the Sound Room will become the Steel Horse Saloon every year for the rally.

She said with the non-smoking rule, full menu and a roof, they're hoping to make the Sound Room a more family-friendly environment.

“We are hoping to bring in some great performances, excellent food, a wonderful location to come and sit and watch your favorite sports and activities,” Kelly said.

The Steel Horse Saloon will be open Wednesday (April 27) through Saturday (April 30) with a smaller menu but hopes to open as the Sound Room with a roof and full menu by the second week of June.
