FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A Fayetteville man was arrested Monday (May 2) after police said he broke into a woman’s home and raped her.
Jerry Lee Kidwell, 41, is facing charges of residential burglary and rape and is being held at the Washington County Detention Center, jail records show.
On Sunday, the victim reported to police that she woke up in her bed and an unknown man was sexually assaulting her, according to the arrest report. The victim said she had never seen Kidwell before, the arrest report states.
The victim chased Kidwell from her home and he got into a parked car on the passenger side and drove away, according to the arrest report.
Police interviewed the driver of the car. The driver said he took Kidwell to the victim’s home after Kidwell asked him if he knew where the victim lived, the arrest report states.
When they got to the house, the driver said Kidwell knocked on the door several times before going inside and running out five minutes later, according to the arrest report.
Kidwell turned himself into police and said he went into the victim’s home, but didn’t touch her in any way, the arrest report states.
Kidwell’s bond has not yet been set, jail records show.
