VAN BUREN (KFSM) – Police concluded an investigation of a murder-suicide involving two men.
Benjamin Lee Allen, 21, of Mena, went to a residence in Van Buren and was asked to wait at the door while Trevor Vargas, 20, of Waldron, grabbed some personal belongings, according to a police release.
After ignoring Vargas’ request, Allen went to the back bedroom where Vargas was, and shot him. Allen then turned the gun on himself, police stated.
Both were taken to hospitals, and pronounced dead shortly after.
Two men are dead following a shooting in Van Buren on Saturday (June 18), according to the Van Buren Police Department.
Police said they responded to a call about a shooting at the 3800 block of James Court in Van Buren around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
When officers got to the scene, they said there were two men with gunshot wounds. One of the men was 21-years-old. The other man was 20-years-old. Officers said one of the men was declared dead at the scene, while the other later died from his injuries at a Little Rock hospital. Police have not released any other details about the men involved in the shooting.
Police said they have interviewed witnesses and are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.
