A felon from Texas is behind bars after police say they found drugs and a gun in the car he was traveling in Thursday.
Juan Lamas, 23, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and felony possession of a firearm. He remains in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
Fayetteville police conducted a traffic stop on the car he was traveling in. Officers running Lamas’ information found he was a convicted felon, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police searched the car and found prescription pills, marijuana and a handgun, the report states. Lamas was arrested at the scene.
Lamas’ felony status was issued by the FBI. Police and the prosecutor’s office said they could not disclose the nature of Lamas’ status because of legal confidentiality.
