Two men remained in jail Wednesday, two days after police say they kicked open a Springdale home’s door before jumping a fence to try to outrun officers.

Jose Delgado, 20, and Jose Rivera, 19, were arrested Monday on suspicion of residential burglary and fleeing from law enforcement. They remain in the Washington County Detention Center on bonds of $3,500 and $2,500, respectively.

Police said the two suspects attempted to gain entry to a home on Hembree Avenue by kicking in the back door. Delgado and Rivera then fled when police were called on-scene, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police arrived on-scene to assist an officer who witnessed two men running away and jumping over a nearby fence. Police used a K-9 unit dog to track Delgado and Rivera, who were located a few blocks away, the report states.

The suspects later admitted to detectives that they tried to break into the home, according to the preliminary report.
