(KFSM) – Northwest Arkansas Newspapers, LLC announced on Jan. 5 that it would consolidate its five daily newspapers into one regional paper, according to an article on their website.
As a result of the consolidation, 15 jobs have been cut (nine jobs from the daily newsroom and six from other departments) from the Northwest Arkansas Newspapers’ workforce of 373, the article states.
Northwest Arkansas Newspapers is jointly owned by Stephens Media and WEHCO Media, Inc., according to the article. The five daily newspapers being merged are the Benton County Daily Record, Rogers Morning News, Springdale Morning News, Northwest Arkansas Times and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Northwest Edition, the article states.
Content from the five daily newspapers, as well as, the nameplates, will continue to be published in the “B” section of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, according to the article.
The consolidation does not affect the 10 weekly newspapers owned by the company, the article states.
The company’s offices in Rogers and Bentonville will close, and news department employees from those locations will work from Springdale and Fayetteville, according to the article.
