FORT SMITH (KFSM) - A new $1.2 million sleep center will open its doors for a community open house Thursday (July 16) in Fort Smith. The state of the art facility built to meet the growing demand for sleep services in the River Valley. The community open house is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. They will have vendors set up to answer any questions people may have.

The new Mercy Sleep Center is at the intersection of Waldron and Ellsworth Road. The first thing you'll notice walking in the doors is how inviting the place feels. The sleep center in the Mercy Plaza has six bedrooms and six full bathrooms. Workers said they want everything to be pleasing and comfy for the patients so they can get some shut eye, while the doctors get to work.

Renovations started back in January on this new facility with more than 50 people around the country helping put this project together.

The state of the art facility has brand new technology including a computer system which connects them to hundreds of sleep beds across the Mercy network. But that's not all, inside each bedroom the colors represent a comfortable atmosphere. The lights even have dimmers. Workers did this so they can wake the patient up and gently and help them get to bed peacefully.

During their stay at the facility, they have an area where you can go outside, where it will soon be, an outdoor sitting area with a fish pond and benches.

Physicans at the sleep center will see patients ages five and up, Monday through Friday. The physican's job is to provide active treatment for anyone who suffers with sleep disorder.

The Mercy Sleep Center will open its doors to patients on Monday (July 20).

With the new sleep center and recent additions in both Ozark and Waldron, Mercy will now offer ten fully orperational sleep beds in the River Valley.
