FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)-- Some local businesses are seeing increased sales this weekend, leading up to Fat Tuesday.

Rick's Bakery in Fayetteville filled dozens of King cake orders Saturday (Feb 6).

The traditional pastry of Mardi Gras is a circular cake made of yeast dough. At Rick's, the cakes are filled with cinnamon and cream cheese and covered in sugar icing.

Manager Andrea Huddleston said they filled many orders in a short amount of time. She said unlike Christmas, when pastries can be baked all month long, for Fat Tuesday there's a short window.

"We are expecting really hundreds of orders to be coming in in the next few days," Huddleson said. "On Monday and of course Tuesday which is Fat tTuesday, so we'll just be cranking them out, sugaring them up and getting them out to the people."

Rick's Bakery is still accepting King cake orders. Huddleston said they also have them made and ready to purchase in store. Rick's is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

THE MANAGER SAYS THEY ARE ACCEPTING ORDERS ON KING CAKES...OR YOU CAN STOP BY...THEY HAVE DOZENS PRE-MADE.
