WINSLOW (KFSM) – Drivers experienced major delays on the southbound lane of Interstate 49 near Winslow on Sunday (Jan. 11th) morning.
Cars were bumper to bumper with some waiting on the side of the road heading south. Some of the bridges in the area were icy and highway department crews treated the troubled spots.
Arkansas State Police responded to several car accidents, but have reported no serious injuries.
“Drivers must not get on the roads unless absolutely necessary,” says Senior Cpl. Charlie Edmonon with Arkansas State Police. He cautions drivers to be aware of the slick roads.
John Marshall, who lives in Springdale, was stuck in the mess.
“We’re kind of concerned,” Marshall said. “We’re trying to get to Little Rock by 1 p.m., so we’re hoping to get there on time.”
Traffic began moving at a normal speed around 11 a.m.
