The town of Panama, Oklahoma is mourning after a local teen loses his battle to cancer.

Elisha Choate was part of a commercial that aired on Channel 5 earlier this year as part of the Make A Wish program. It was a dream of his to be in a TV commercial.

Choate’s mother, Karen Perry, said she knows her son is looking down on her from heaven.

"Mom I'm not hurting anymore, I'm cancer free and that he's happy,” said Perry of what her son would be thinking now.

Just before a Friday night football kick off, balloons painted the Panama sky in memory of the 15-year-old.

Nova Chronister, Elisha's aunt says, "Saddened because of my selfishness wanting him to be here for one last smile or something sweet that he says."

On August 15th of 2012 Choate’s life took a turn. Doctors spotted a cancerous tumor on his liver which later spread to his lungs.

His family said it will be hard not having him around anymore and they are going to rely on the small community of Panama for support.

"I can do it and I'm just going to believe that he's in a better place," said Perry.

As balloons soared into the night, his family said they hope they will not only send a message for those fighting childhood cancer but Elisha’s selfless spirit as well.

No funeral arrangements have been made.
