BELLA VISTA (KFSM) -- Home delivery is a very popular option for those who can't leave home. Everything from food to clothing can be ordered, then delivered to your front door. Now, a local library is getting on board with the idea, delivering books and other materials to people who can't leave home.
The Bella Vista library will be delivering books to those who have a hard time getting out of their homes. They started with Concordia, which is a retirement center in the area.
The services extend beyond just books. It also includes DVDs, CDs and audio books.
The library director said there's a great need for this program in Bella Vista, since many of their visitors have a hard time getting out to the library. They have about 12 volunteers making the delivery rounds.
One woman receiving the service said she's very grateful to be receiving the books. She said she currently reads about two books a week, and thinks this new service will be very handy.
"I can't imagine anybody just bringing that and laying it out for us," said Sallie Stucky. "That's so delightful."
Library director Roxie Wright said, "We are sometimes very limited in what we can offer because the size of our library, so this is one way that instead of you coming to us, we'll bring the library to you."
The service is free. The same rules apply when checking out a book through the delivery service.
