FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Investigators with the Fourth Judicial Drug Task Force seize an illegal drug from three business in Fayetteville.

Recently, the sale of mitragynine, commonly known as Kratom, was added to the list of illegal drugs in the state of Arkansas, because it is highly addictive with no medical value. According to police, area businesses continued to sell the product. That led to search warrants being issued and the drug being seized from Sidney’s Emporium, Back Alley Tea House and Bodega, all in Fayetteville.

According to police, eighty-eight pounds of Kratom powder was seized from Sidney’s Emporium. Five pounds was seized from Back Alley Tea House and over three and one-half pounds of Kratom power, 3,500 Kratom capsules, and 800 ounces of liquid Kratom was seized from Bodega.

The Fourth Judicial District Task Force is comprised of Fayetteville, Springdale, Prairie Grove, Lincoln, Farmington, West Fork, Greenland, Johnson, Tontitown, Elkins Police Departments, the city of Goshen, and the Washington and Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
