FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A local elementary student, who has had a growing interest in becoming a K-9 officer, received a surprise on Wednesday (March 9).
Jamarrion Franklin, a third-grade student at Howard Elementary, was officially made an “Honorary K-9 Officer” by the Fort Smith Police K-9 Unit.
The police department stated that Jamarrion aspires to be a policeman and always talk to school resource officer Cpl. Travis Watkins about being a policeman (specifically a K-9).
Jamarrion has made several pictures and letters for the FSPD K-9 Unit.
The K-9 Unit introduced themselves to “Officer Jamarrion” at the school, and showed him around their K-9 Units, the K-9 equipment, and let him meet their partners.
On the department’s Facebook page, the FSPD stated:
“Please join us in congratulating “Honorary” K-9 Officer Jamarrion Franklin to the Fort Smith Police Department’s K-9 Unit! Welcome to the family and we are proud too call you brother!”
