FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Award-winning author Louis Sachar will be stopping by the Fayetteville Public Library to give a lecture on Wednesday night (Oct. 26).

Sachar, best known for writing Holes and Sideways Stories, will be giving a public talk starting at 7 p.m. as part of the Fayetteville  Literary Festival. The festival started Oct. 17 and will conclude Thursday (Oct. 27).

Sachar has written 25 books for children and adults. He won the Newbery Award and the National Book Award for his book Holes.

Event coordinator Nathan Rowe said he was excited to bring new experiences to Fayetteville.

“It’s not often that you really get to see things unless you live in a major city,” Rowe said. “That’s something that the library tries to do, is provide these kinds of high value speakers that the community otherwise wouldn’t be able to see.”

Rowe also said one of the main points of the literary festival is to engage kids and adults to read more and write their own stories.

After the event, Sachar will be signing books.

The event is free and open to the public.
