ROGERS (KFSM) — The Genghis Grill restaurant in Rogers is looking into allegations that an employee spit in food belonging to law enforcement officers, according to a post on their Facebook page.

A post left in the reviews section states:

“On 9/22/15 a group of 15 officers went to this location. One officer got a free coupon because his meal had been lost. He returned a few days later and was told by a waitress that during the previous visit the cook had spit in the food. The officer left and was followed out by staff making pig noises at him. Officers in NWA have been told not to frequent this establishment.”

Genghis Grill posted the following response to the allegations Monday (Oct. 5):

“Hello- just to let everyone know we are currently investigating a situation that happened at our Rogers, AR location on 9/22/2015. We are taking this matter very seriously. Genghis Grill as a company has always had a long-standing and healthy relationship with local law enforcement. In addition our CEO visited the store on Saturday to discuss with our staff members. If you or someone you know was directly involved please have them contact us at social@genghisgrill.com or call 214-774-4240, it is extremely important for us to speak to someone that was at the location at the time of the incident.”

The Rogers Police Department is also investigating the allegations and released the following statement Tuesday (Oct. 6) from Police Chief Hayes Minor:

“The Rogers Police Department is aware of an issue occurring at the local Genghis Grill last month.  We are currently reviewing this matter and speaking with our employees who were involved.  We are also aware that Genghis Grill is independently looking into this matter and look forward to working with them to resolve the issue.  At this point, we will have no further comment as we look to determine whether criminal charges are warranted or not.”
