The campaign race for Barling’s open city director seat ended Tuesday night in a special election that saw Wallace Gattis victorious.
Gattis, 77, beat out challenger John Maness, 49, by collecting 98 votes (59 percent) to Maness’ 67 (41 percent), according to county election results.
The race was for an at-large Barling Board of Directors seat that was left vacant when longtime director Ron Wingfield died earlier this year.
