FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- Fort Smith city leaders named Carl Geffken to be the city administrator Tuesday (March 8).
Geffken is a Chief Operating Officer in Berks County, Pa. The motion to hire him was passed with a 5-2 vote.
Deputy City Administrator Jeff Dingman had served as the Acting City Administrator since Ray Gosack's retirement announcement in July 2015.
Three candidates were selected from a number of applicants and interviewed for the job, according to City Clerk Sherri Gard.
Aside from Dingman, Ret. Col. Daniel Biles, who currently works as a Deputy County Manager in Birmingham, Ala., interviewed for the job.
Dingman said he will he continue to serve as deputy city administrator.
Gard said the salary range for city administrator is between $130,000 and $170,000.
