FORT SMITH (KFSM) – After 31 years working in city management, Ray Gosack has informed the city he will retire.

Gosack said he would retire August 10, 2015, but his last day of work is today.

Gosack released the following statement.

“A few moments ago, I submitted to the board of directors my letter of retirement effective August 10th.  Today will be my last day in the office.

I’ll always value the support and loyalty you’ve shown me during my 16+ years in Fort Smith.  Watching you serve the citizens well and grow in your leadership capabilities has been rewarding.  Together we’ve made Fort Smith a better place to live, work, and do business.  I’m honored to have been your colleague in public service.

As we know from the Bible, everything in life has a season.  After more than 31 years in city management, the time has come for me to begin the next season of my life.  I trust that you’ll continue to support the city board and your employees as they work to help Fort Smith grow and thrive.”
