Kimberly George owns Northwest Arkansas Florist in Fayetteville. She said they stayed open Sunday (Feb. 14) to accommodate last-minute shoppers. George said the holiday is the largest floral holiday of the year.
"Preparations start way back in November and December for me," George said. " Trying to decide which recipes I want to offer, what glassware I need and what staffing I need."
She said in order to keep up with demand, she has double to triple the amount of employees helping in the shop.
"we are going to have at least a thousand transactions and that may not necessarily be flowers, but people do buy plants," George said. "I have local chocolates then I do have plush animals as well."
George said they did hundreds of deliveries Friday (Feb. 12) and Saturday (Feb. 13). She said working the extra hours are well worth the sales.
"This is a holiday that does keep us running for a majority of the year," George said. "That's why we have so many people coming in, so that I can get the sales increase."
George said after Valentine's Day, Mother's Day is the next biggest sales holiday.
