FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Death Fest made its debut this past week in Fayetteville and the six-day event continued Sunday (Oct. 30) in Fayetteville.
The event is hosted by the Natural Burial Association, which promotes environmentally-friendly burial options. That means not embalming a body and placing the body in the ground in a shroud or a pine box, so nature can take over.
President Vickie Kelley is excited about educating people about their burial options.
"[People] understand that natural burial and green cemeteries will conserve the environment," she said. "We're aiming to create a conservation cemetery."
The festival included activities like building your own pine box coffin, a home funeral workshop and a guided tour of the Evergreen Cemetery.
The festival ends Tuesday, Nov. 1, which is also celebrated as the Day of the Dead.
