City of Fayetteville

Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan will proclaim Tuesday (April 8) as “Equal Pay Day,” according to a news release Monday.

He will reportedly issue a proclamation on Tuesday at 12 p.m. in front of the Fayetteville Towns Center.

Equal Pay Day reflects how far into the current year women must work to match what men earned in the previous year.

The U.S. Department of Labor calculates that this Equal pay Day represents that a woman must work one year, three months and eight days to make what a man earned last year.

The public is invited to attend.
