KSLA – These dogs really are man’s best friend. They are loyal, even in death.

KSLA reported the dogs’ owner died when her mobile home caught fire, and now they won’t leave the shell of the burned out house.

Police say fire fighters were called to the scene of a mobile home fire at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning. They arrived to find a single-wide trailer fully engulfed in flames.

Authorities say a woman died in the fire after she went back into the mobile home for reasons that aren’t known. Her husband, who had gotten her and their two children out of the house, suffered serious burns on his arms and legs and is being treated at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

Family members told KSLA News 12 that the husband had smelled what he thought was burning wires. When he discovered his wife had gone back into the house, he pulled out a window air conditioning unit and tried to get back into the house to get her. Fire fighters had to pull him out.

Investigators were on the scene of the fire Saturday looking for clues as to how the fire started and why.
