FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A satirical specialist will be holding a workshop and speaking at the University of Arkansas on Thursday (March 10).
Scott Dikkers, cofounder of “The Onion,” will be sharing his experience developing the false news organization into a internationally-known comic site, according to a U of A press release.
Dikkers will hold a lecture from 3-4 p.m., followed by a public reception from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Both will be in Gearhart Hall. Starting at 6:30 p.m., Dikkers will hold a lecture in Hillside Auditorium.
The lecture is free and open to the public. It is part of the U of A as part of the Honors College Invites series.
“The Onion” started at the University of Wisconsin in 1988. Dikkers joined as a cartoonist, but started editing the publication by the third issue.
Dikkers is the publication’s longest-serving editor-in-chief. From 1989 to 2003, he co-owned the paper, and he created “The Onion News Network” in 2006.
