SPRINGDALE (KFSM)- A cider brewery will be opening in Springdale later this year.

Partners Leo Orpin, Trey Holt and John Handley are in the process of setting up Noble Crossing Cider House at 321 E. Emma Ave.

Orpin, who will be taking care of the business side of the cider house, said the idea started with a home brewery that catered to small events. Orpin said he and his two partners decided to open a cider brewery to separate themselves from the competition after several local beer breweries opened up in Northwest Arkansas in the last three years.

Orpin said in the beginning they will focus on brewing their flagship cider, which is semi-sweet, semi-dry and 6% alcohol, as well as cider cocktails. He said they will experiment with different cider varieties at a later time.

Noble Crossing Cider House will have its soft opening in early May, to coincide with the official completion of the Razorback Greenway, which will happen on May 2, according to Orpin who called it an aggressive goal. The grand opening of the cider house will be sometime in June.

Orpin said he and his partners hope to be part of a movement to revitalize downtown Springdale by being part of a group of young, local entrepreneurs who are bringing unique and innovative business ideas to that area.
