The Lowell Fire Department battled a fire in a barn on a chicken farm on Ervin McGarrah Road on Sunday evening.
Firefighters received the call shortly before 8 p.m. and the fire was through the roof of the multi-use barn when they arrived, said Benton County Fire Marshal Marc Trollinger. The fire damaged about 20 percent of the barn, which was used to store chicken litter and other farm equipment.
Trollinger said crews were still working to put out hot spots but the fire was otherwise contained. No one was injured in the fire, and the cause was under investigation.
The Hickory Creek Fire Department assisted Lowell in bringing the fire under control.
