CEDARVILLE (KFSM) – The Cedarville City Council is scheduled to discuss overriding Cedarville Mayor Glenanna O’Mara’s decision to appoint a new police chief in December 2014 at their January meeting, officials say.

Cedarville went through four different police chiefs in 14 months (plus an interim police chief hired in August 2014) before Larry Merrill was hired for the position on Dec. 16, 2014.

At the city council meeting on Tuesday (Jan. 20) at 7 p.m., Cedarville alderman are scheduled to discuss Ordinance 002-2009, which would override O’Mara’s appointment of Merrill, according to the agenda. The meeting is scheduled to take place at Cedarville City Hall.

O’Mara said the ordinance was just being discussed at the meeting. She also said she didn’t know if a vote would take place on Tuesday evening.

Other topics of discussion at the meeting include a dog ordinance and a clean-up ordinance, according to the agenda.
