VAN BUREN (KFSM)- A Van Buren restaurant was damaged in an early morning fire Friday (May 8).

According to the Van Buren Fire Department, firefighters were called to C&C Catfish at 50 Rena Rd. at around 2:45 a.m. by someone who drove by the restaurant and saw the fire. Fire Prevention Officer Marvin Stout said the fire was contained to the porch outside and was put out by 4:30 a.m. The inside of the restaurant also sustained some water and smoke damage, he said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Arkansas Secretary of State records show C&C Catfish is owned by Pyle & Reding Inc., which was incorporated by William and Beverly Pyle and Brian and Alicson Reding.

Brian Reding said the restaurant has been in Van Buren since 1994. He also said he was out of town at the time of the fire.

In January, the Redings dealt with another fire when a house in Cedarville listed in Alicson Reding's name was declared a total loss.

Reding is also serving a 20 year probation sentenced after she pleaded guilty to theft of property. The former Cedarville treasurer was accused of stealing nearly $300,000 from the city. Reding was also ordered to pay $324,634 restitution.
