LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The attorney for a Benton woman who’s seeking clues about the 1987 deaths of her son and his friend argues that a federal judge should not reconsider his order that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency turn over decades-old documents related to the case.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that attorney R. David Lewis responded Friday (Aug. 17) to a DEA claim that the information could endanger confidential informants or law enforcement agents, even decades later. Lewis said there is no evidence a source who provided information was promised anonymity.

Judge Brian Miller ruled on Aug. 2 that parts of two reports should be given to Linda Ives.

Ives wants information from the DEA and other government agencies that she thinks may offer clues about the deaths of her 17-year-old son Kevin Ives and his 16-year-old friend Don Henry. The two were found Aug. 23, 1987, after being struck by a train in Saline County.
