BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) – A 94-year-old Eureka Springs woman is dead after a vehicle accident in rural Benton County this morning (March 4) at Arkansas 12 and Arkansas 303 North, police say.
Elaine Holland, 94, was riding in a 2014 Honda CR-V sport utility vehicle with another passenger identified as Darlene Burmeister, 72, of Eureka Springs, when the SUV was struck by a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck, according to a crash report. The pickup truck was being driven by a 16-year-old boy with another 16-year-old boy in the passenger seat, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck failed to make a curve, lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and slammed into the SUV head on, according to police.
Burmeister and the 16-year-old passenger in the truck were both injured from the crash, and Holland died, the report states.
All three were taken to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, according to police.
The road was wet, and it was raining at the time of the accident, the report states.
Police said the accident happened at 9:50 a.m.
