On this flavor of the week, Melissa headed to one of the oldest restaurants in Arkansas, Neal's Cafe in Springdale, to find out what they're cooking that keeps people coming back.
The atmosphere hasn't changed much since Neal's opened in 1944 -- and neither have the recipes.
"We have the original recipes," said Don Neal. "We've been frying chicken like grandma did it for 72 years, and baking pies like she made them for 72 years, and they're all her recipes."
And not only have they been using grandma's recipes, but their food is guaranteed to be made with just as much love as she made hers with.
"We're very labor-intensive. We hand prepare everything," Neal said. "We hand bread our chicken fried steak; it's not a frozen product. Everything is made from scratch. Our gravies are made from scratch. Our breads we make fresh every day. Make the pies fresh every day. If we have a pie leftover at night, we throw it away. We don't serve it the next day."
Most diners are just open for breakfast and lunch but Neal's is open for dinner too every night but Sunday and Monday.
Each day of the week they feature a different special, from meatloaf to baked chicken and dressing, but they have all you can eat catfish every day. That comes catfish comes with three sides to go along with it.
However, some will argue that you HAVE to get the fried chicken.
But don't just take our word for it...
"We were listed in Southern Living magazine a few years ago as one of the best places in the south to eat fried chicken," Neal said.
Between the consistency of their yummy comfort food and the wide-ranging menu, the list of why people keep coming back seems to go on and on.
"We're always glad to get new customers, as we believe if you ever come once that you will come again and again and again," Neal said.
Even though Melissa couldn't finish her lunch, she had to have some of their homemade pie. They have all different flavors but the coconut cream won her heart. The meringue was so light and fluffy, and you can't beat the crunch from the toasted coconut.
