RATCLIFF, Ark. — Authorities in Logan County requested an Amber Alert be issued for a 14-year-old girl who was with someone she met online.
Logan County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) requested the Amber Alert on Friday, Oct. 18.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, the sheriff's office provided an update that the girl may be with a 14-year-old boy who was reported missing by the Anson County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina on Oct. 17.
According to LCSO, the boy left his home in North Carolina on foot and wasn't seen since. He also reportedly left his home over a month ago in a stolen vehicle. He was later found in Georgia and brought back home.
The sheriff's office believes the two met through an online gaming app and have been speaking to each other for at least a month.
The two were found safely on Saturday afternoon.
Although another Amber Alert was sent to some people's phones across the state of Arkansas around 11 p.m. on Oct. 19, Director of Communications at the Arkansas Department of Public Safety Cindy Murphy said the 14-year-old girl was not missing again.
"[Arkansas] State Police is working with the alert service provider to determine what the problem is. We have heard reports of similar problems in other states," Murphy said.
