FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFSM) — Procession and funeral arrangements for Fayetteville Officer Stephen Carr have been announced.

Carr was killed in his patrol car outside the Fayetteville Police Department on Saturday (Dec. 7) night.

A visitation for Officer Carr was held on December 11, at the University Baptist Church at 333 W, Maple St. in Fayetteville from 3-7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on December 12 at Bud Walton Arena at 1270 Leroy Pond Dr. in Fayetteville at 1 p.m.

A procession of officers will be escorting Officer Carr from North Crossover Avenue to Bud Walton Arena at 11 a.m. before the funeral service begins.

The Fayetteville Police Department encourages everyone in the community to line the streets along the route in support of Officer Carr and his family.

There is designated parking in lot 56 at the intersection of MLK Boulevard and Razorback Road for those planning to attend the funeral. Seats will be marked for the public inside the arena and attendees can enter through the south and west entrances of Bud Walton Arena.

A bag check and metal detector will be required to enter. Fayetteville Police encourage people to leave purses and bags at home if possible for convenience and ease of entry for all attending.

Fayetteville Police say they would like to thank the outpouring support from citizens, community, and supporters nationwide.

"The amount of support has been heartwarming and has been a beacon of light in this dark time for our agency. We have been lifted up by food, donations, but most of all kind words and hugs. "

Slain Fayetteville Office Funeral Arrangements

A candlelight vigil for Officer Carr was held outside of the Walton Arts Center on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Dickson Street was closed between West Avenue and School Street during the vigil.

The FPD is asking residents to turn the city blue in honor of Carr by utilizing blue lights at their homes and businesses. You can also use the hashtag #LightTheCityBlue413 on social media.

GoFundMe has been set up by the Fayetteville Fraternal Order of Police to support Carr's family.
