Little Rock police arrest suspect in alleged stabbing death of 23-year-old man

LRPD arrested Vincente Garcia Nicolas and charged with first degree murder in connection to the alleged stabbing death of 23-year-old Benito Guzman-Martinez.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — According to the Little Rock Police Department, officers are investigating after a homicide happened in the early morning hours of March 8.

According to the LRPD dispatch log, officers responded to a "cutting" at 1:59 a.m. where one person was killed on Overby Circle.

Reports said that MEMS and Rescue team members were sent to the address where they later found the victim of the stabbing, 23-year-old Benito Guzman-Martinez.

Officers were reportedly able to get information on a potential suspect linked to Martinez's murder, who had already fled on foot from the crime scene before police were able to make it there.

Authorities were able to find the potential suspect, Vincente Garcia Nicolas, around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers had arrived at the 600 block of Poinsetta Drive, after they got reports of a man with 'apparent blood' on them.

Upon arrival, Garcia Nicolas was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

Following his medical care, police charged him with first degree murder for the alleged killing.

Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
