FORT SMITH (KFSM) - About a dozen balloon will fill the Oklahoma skies for a two day event that creates a spectacle many surveys call, one of the must see and fastest growing events in the Sooner State.

For a "5NEWS This Morning" segment that aired Sunday (October 11), anchor Daren Bobb spoke to the Poteau Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Karen Wages. She said there's a limited window to see these balloons, as they can only rise two hours after sunrise and two hours before sunset. Besides seeing the colorful balloons brightening the River Valley sky, there will be numerous events occurring, including monster truck races, helicopter races, and carnival rides.

Wages said most of the balloons are on their way from Albuquerque, New Mexico as the city finished its annual international balloon fiesta. The Poteau Balloon Festival will go from Friday, October 16th to the 17th and will be held at the LeFlore County Fairgrounds. Tickets will cost $5 at the gate.
