Two people are facing driving while intoxicated charges after police say a Fayetteville woman hit injured three workers with her vehicle Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Joyce Boulevard in front of the post office. Sgt. Craig Stout says Jo Jackson, 51, of Fayetteville, was driving a black Toyota Sequoia was traveling east on Joyce when she hit two workers, Bradley Robbins, 34 of Farmington, and Jackie Luper, 57, of West Fork.

Police say the outside eastbound lane of Joyce was closed and signs warning of the construction and lane closer were in place.

Robbins and Luper were both transported by ambulance to Washington Regional Medical Center.   Sgt. Stout says a third transportation worker, Brent Horn, age 30 of Springdale suffered minor injuries while jumping out of the way.

Luper is still at Washington Regional Medical Center listed in critical condition, but both Horn and Robbins were treated and released, according to Sgt. Stout.

After coming to a stop, Sgt. Stout says Jackson’s vehicle was struck by a Saturn Ion driven by Ronnie Davidson, 28, of Springdale.

Jackson told police the sun was in her eyes, when she drove through the construction zone, hitting traffic cones and the workers. But after the blood alcohol content levels of both Jackson and Davidson were tested, police arrested them both.

Jackson is facing charges of driving while intoxicated by drugs, reckless driving, and disobeying a traffic control device, police say.

Police say Jackson's 12-year-old daughter was in the car at the time of the accident. She was also charged with child endangerment.

Davidson was arrested for driving while intoxicated and following too close.
