Well we all need a little help navigating the social networking world. But fortunately- there's a class for that.

If the terms "poke" means nothing to you, and you've never used "friend" as a verb, it may be time to sign up for the social networking class at the Adult Education Center. The class is teaching adults how to use Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites.

"A lot of the older generation would like to be a part of Facebook and be able to communicate with their families. They're just not as computer literate as the younger generations. We get more of the older people who would like to learn how to use it," said class instructor Linda Holland.

And so far they are making great progress.

"They really love it. We're learning how to upload photos and make friends. They're really enjoying it," said Holland.

Betty White perhaps said it best on when she hosted Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago

"When I was growing up, looking at people's vacation pictures was punishment," White says in her monologue.

But Holland says it's important that even adults start embracing Facebook.

"It's really the best way to communicate with your family. And it's also a great promotional tool for business as you see on every advertisement, "See us on Facebook," said Holland.

If Facebook users formed a country, it would be the sixth largest country in the world. And it's fastest growing demographic is people over 30. Those who took the social networking class tell us they joined Facebook to keep up with loved ones who are far away.

Martha Russell joined Facebook after her niece made her account. She took the social networking class after she realized she was stuck.

"I had an account and that's all I knew how to do," she said.

Now she is reconnecting with friends from the past- whether she wants to or not.

"I've learned that I can put my photo on there. I learned a whole lot about some people I went to school with a hundred years ago. They showed up all of a sudden. I hadn't heard from them in forever," said Russell.

The second round of social networking classes at the Adult Education Center will start June 28th and run until July 21st. It is held on Mondays and Wednesdays. The class costs $30.
