The New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts in a 31 to 17 victory.

But many in the River Valley didn't get to see a good part of the game, because of a power outage. Fort Smith Police say the outage was caused after a vehicle slammed into a power pole near the intersection of Massard Road.

Miraculously, nobody was hurt.

But it may have hurt some football fans.

Nearly a thousand people were left in the dark in east Fort Smith to the Barling area during the Superbowl.

And those Saints fans missed an onside kick that lead to a touchdown.

Many people that we spoke to in the areas without power were hosting Super Bowl parties.

But that quickly ended as people scrambled to find an alternate place to watch the game.

Crews worked to get power back online to customers as soon as possible.

Police were out directing traffic at the intersection of Zero and Massard.

Power was restored about 8:30 tonight, just in time for people to catch the Saints first Super Bowl victory ever.

And fortunately lights were on in other parts of Fort Smith,

Many businesses usually closed on Sundays opened especially for the Superbowl.

Workers at papa's Pizzeria say it was worth it, especially for the Saints fans. "We had games and specials. We had a lot of Saints fans, definitely," said Papa's manager Kristy Cox.

People were frustrated with the power outage, but they say they understand it was an accident.

And they were just glad it wasn't a problem with the power company.
