Van Buren Dog Attack
An elderly Van Buren man was rushed to Summit Medical Center this morning after being attacked by a dog.

Van Buren Police say the pit bull dog attack took place shortly after eight this morning as 76-year-old Archie Hoback was walking his two small dogs down a Van Buren sidewalk when the pit bull charged towards him. They say he picked up his dogs in his arms and that is when the pit bull bit into his arm causing several lacerations that went to the bone.

Code Enforcement Officer Steven Gunter says he went to the house where he believed the dog came from but the home owner denied any knowledge of the dog.

Officer Gunter says, "It was later determined the dog did belong to them and they were hiding the dog inside the residence."

As a result 37-year-old Scott Pulliman was arrested on charges of obstructing government operations, harboring a vicious dog, allowing a dog to run at large, and for having no city tags or vaccination for the dog.

The dog has been impounded at a local Vets office for 10 days observation at the end of which it will go to the city pound until a judge determines what will be done with it.
