With hail in the forecast drivers want to be very careful where they park their cars. Hail can be very destructive, even totaling cars.
"I wish I had a garage, you know for the ice storm, for the hail, you know anything," said Becky Martin of Fayetteville.
Martin has been victimized by hail before. She pointed out the small dents on her car. "There is a parking garage on campus, I'm a student so I might just leave it out overnight, someone can bring me back to my house," said Martin.
People living at the Reserve at Steele Crossing in Fayetteville have the option to rent garages, but some people question whether or not it's worth it, just because of a little hail. "I'm happy with the amount of rent, didn't want to increase it," said Katie Lay.
She said she'll just cross her fingers during the storm. "I do have car insurance, I figure that's what it's for, that's why I have it," said Lay. According to State Farm Insurance every time it hails they get calls reporting damage. Agent Phil Ford said most people just don't take Mother Nature serious, they are only worried about car accidents.
Anyone with a lien on their car must have comprehensive insurance, but if you already own your car then it's optional.
However, uninsured drivers are taking a big risk. Hail damage can be very expensive, up to $6,000 to $7,000 according to Ford.
There are precautions that can be taken to protect cars, such as using a car cover, placing heavy blankets over the roof and hood, or parking under a tree.
