U.S. Senator John Boozman, R – Ark., and other city leaders were on hand Saturday for the rededication of the McClure Amphitheater at Chaffee Crossing in Fort Smith.
The McClure Amphitheater was originally built in the 1950s. Crews have spent the last four years restoring the outdoor amphitheater.
U.S. Senator Boozman said this project has been in the planning process for quite some time, and he’s happy to see it complete.
“This is really what it’s all about, increasing the quality of life in the area, and then also preserving the history that we have of these guys that did this many many years ago,” Boozman said .
The senator also said, with a view he calls “gorgeous”, he predicts the venue will soon take off as a premier special event spot in the River Valley. The senator says this is what they strived for throughout the planning process.
